A non-profit, non-partisan, non-governmental organisation founded in 1996 and registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission, Abuja in 2000 — working among the urban slum communities of Ajegunle, Lagos State.

30
years of service
Ajegunle Community Project (ACP) was formed in 1996 by concerned members of the community as a grassroots response to the violence, discrimination and social inequalities faced by women and girls in one of Lagos State’s most densely populated urban slums.
In 2000, the organisation was formally registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission, Abuja (CAC/IT/RC No. 14,126 (Registered 2000)). From its office at 35 Orodu Street, Ajegunle-Apapa, Lagos, Nigeria, ACP now serves women, young people and families across the Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government Area, Lagos State.
“We work among grassroots communities to emancipate women and the girl-child from violence and discriminative practices.”
Promoting the emancipation of grassroots women from discriminative practices and violence through legal protection, enlightenment campaigns and education on socio-political human rights issues.
To reduce social inequalities among grassroots women and the girl-child.
Working among grassroots communities to promote rights, build skills and open doors of opportunity for women and the girl-child.
Every ACP programme traces back to six clear objectives.
Concerned community members come together to form a grassroots response to violence and discrimination against women in Ajegunle.
The organisation is registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission, Abuja (RC 14,126), giving its work a firm legal foundation.
The Women, Youth, Research & Documentation and Legal Departments are established, and the Women Skill Acquisition Centre opens its doors.
ACP continues its work among urban slum communities in Lagos State — educating, supporting and empowering women and the girl-child.
We hold ourselves accountable to the communities we serve, our partners and our donors — with honesty and transparency.
We build the capacity of women and young people to stand on their own through skills, enterprise and confidence.
Our work is driven by service, not profit — putting the needs of grassroots women and girls first, always.
We deliver our programmes with competence, diligence and respect for every person we work with.
